Q1: These diagrams show how oxbow lakes form. What do you think will happen to the newly straightened piece of river in the future?
[Answer]

Screen 5/5

Oxbow lakes

An oxbow lake is a crescent-shaped lake near to meanders. How did it get there? It was once an oxbow, but the thin neck was worn right through by the river.

It is full with water because there is water in the soil to the level of the river, so water seeps from the soil to keep the oxbow lake filled.
