Get a bowl and fill it with water. Then get a tube and hold one end upright just below the surface.

Get a friend to pour water into the tube. If you raise the tube does the spring come out more strongly?

This activity demonstrates that water only springs out of the ground when there is some force behind it. Usually this force is the pressure of more water stored up in the rock.
