7 day tour of the rainforest
ITINERARY:
DAY 1-Arrive San José (Costa Rica)
Arrive at the airport in San José. After passing through Immigration look for our guide in a bright blue shirt holding our company name. They will take you to your hotel (No meals provided.)
DAY 2- From San José
You begin with an orientation breakfast with your guide, then you leave for a one-hour flight to an airstrip close to the rainforest national park. Once you arrive you will walk 30 minutes with a guide to the lodge (at the same time luggage will be transported by horse cart).
Your stay will be at a tent camp. The first thing you do is to follow the Loop Trail which shows you the different types of lowland tropical rainforest, You may see coatimundis (a kind of raccoon), tayras (a dark, bushy-tailed weasel), Amazon parrots, poison dart frogs, several species of snakes, agoutis (which look like a large, long-legged guinea pig), and hummingbirds. You also may come face to face with the monkeys. Dinner and overnight at the tent camp.
DAY 3-Corcovado national park
Today, in groups of six you will visit the Tree Canopy Platform which is located in an emergent tree 40m above the forest floor.
DAY 4-Corcovado national park
After breakfast you start the six-hour, round-trip hike through the park. This walk is renowned for sighting large flocks of macaws.
DAY 5- Pacuare river rafting
Depart early for your white water rafting trip which will be the next leg of your adventure. After an orientation and safety talk, proceed down river. River time: approximately 1–1/2 hours. Dinner and overnight camping on the riverbank.
DAY 6-San José
Return to San José for the Farewell Dinner
DAY 7-Depart San José
Transfer to the international airport approximately two hours before your flight's scheduled departure time. (No meals provided.)
