When we say rainforest we usually mean tropical rainforest – forests in lowlands close to the Equator.

Rainforests are not found on mountains or in places away from the Equator because all of these places are too cool for rainforests.

Tropical rainforests are places which are hot all year and where torrential rain falls on most days, making them both hot and humid.
