As our population grows, so more water is needed. This is true even in well-watered countries like the UK.
To give ourselves a reliable supply, we may need to build more dams and flood more land to make reservoirs.
We could make this problem less likely by using water more carefully and water companies could make more efforts to mend leaky pipes (about a fifth of our water leaks away due to poor pipes).
