                                  Mir is a much less cramped space station than its predecessors and includes separate cabins, living quarters, and bathroom. At one end of the module there are two rocket engines and 32 tHrusters for controlling both orbit and altitude.
Operating Mir
Soyuz spacecraft continue to be used for getting people to the space station, while unmanned Progress spacecraft are used to supply provisions.
After the construction of Mir a stay of just
a few days in space routinely became a stay of months or even up to a year. Mir crewman Valery Polyakov spent a record 438 days in space.
