What is wastewater? Wastewater is water that has already been used.

A sewer.

Waste water is any water that we have used and is not fit to be used again until it has been cleaned.

Waste water is known by many other names, such as sewage and effluent.

Most waste water is flushed down sinks and toilets and finds its way to sewers.
