Pulpit

What is a pulpit? A pulpit is a raised lecture stand where the priests and lay people preach to congregations in church.

A pulpit.

The pulpit is a place for a speaker to stand and give a sermon, or to make a reading, or to tell a story to the congregation in a church.

In some Christian churches, there are two raised places at the front of the church. The one on the left, as seen by the congregation, is where the minister or other church official stands, while the one of the right is often used by other people. But you may find them the opposite way round. In some Protestant and Evangelical churches, the pulpit is in the middle.
