Motor

What is a motor? A motor is something that produces movement.

A motorcyclist using a motor.

There are many kinds of motor. The ones you most commonly find are electric motors, the sort that drive your vacuum cleaner or the hard drive in your computer, a diesel or petrol-driven internal combustion engine, the sort you get in your car, or jet engines that you get in aircraft. A solid rocket engine, which uses oxygen and hydrogen to make a rocket lift off the ground is also a motor.
