Mosque

What is a mosque? A mosque is a place in which Muslims pray.

Mosque.

A mosque is a religious building where Muslims go to pray. Muslim prayers involve standing, bowing and kneeling, so there is no need to have chairs. There may, however be rugs on the floor. This is so that people will have a clean place to pray.

Muslims must pray facing the direction of the holiest city which is called Mecca. Mecca is in the Middle Eastern country of Saudi Arabia.

Many mosques around the world are large, and have extra features. There is no rule that says what a mosque must look like, but many mosques are designed to look like the mosques built in the early days of Islam. You might notice minarets, a courtyard, and a dome. You can see those features in the picture and the video.
