Measuring

What does measuring mean? Measuring means to find out about the size, shape, weight, or other property.

A sundial made out of stones on a beach. The shadow made by the Sun can be used to measure the time.

Measuring is something we do every day in order to find out about the height, weight or other property of something. If you say "what time is it?", the answer is a measurement of time. If you say" how many chocolates are left" that is a measurement of quantity. If you say "how much do you weigh?", then that is a measurement of weight, and if you say "How tall are you?", then that is a measurement of height.

So, most of the time we are talking about measurements. It's not just in science or technology, but it is all around us in everyday life. When you say "how much does it cost?", then you are also talking about a measurement. All the same, if you want to measure things in science, then that is shown in many science books, like the ones below.
