Marble

What is marble? Marble is a very hard, often white, rock that was formed by great heat in mountains. It is used for many statues.

A marble quarry.

Marble is limestone that has been put under great heat while it was inside a mountain range. This is why marble rocks are found in mountains. When it was heated, the limestone began to melt and the grains fused together. This is what makes it so hard, and why it is so useful for sculptures and for grand buildings.
