Gospel

What is a gospel? A gospel is the telling of Good News. For Christians, the Good News is the story in each of the books of the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

A famous sentence from The Gospel according to John.

A gospel is an account describing the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. The word gospel means 'Good News'.

The best known gospels are those of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Christians believe that these gospels are the word of God and are used as an accurate account of the life of Jesus, although as these books were written many years after the death of Jesus, and details are easily forgotten, not all gospels say exactly the same things.
