Who was Sir Alexander Fleming? Sir Alexander Fleming was a famous scientist who was responsible for developing the medicine called penicillin.

Sir Alexander Fleming, who died in 1955, was a famous British scientist. He is most famous for inventing the antibiotic substance penicillin using a mould (fungus) called Penicillium. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for this discovery along with two colleagues.

Penicillin was the first antibiotic and saved millions of lives.
