Flashing light

What is a flashing light? A flashing light is a light that comes on and goes off rapidly. It is often used as a warning.

The eye is very sensitive to changes in brightness, and so a flashing light, which goes from full on to off in less than a second, catches our attention. Think of the many places you see this - it is often used as warning. There are lights on aircraft, on tall buildings, on the roofs of emergency services and so on.
