Evolution

What is evolution? Evolution is the scientific idea that living things change over time.

Puppies from the same litter show how varied living things can be.

Evolution is an idea that was developed in the 19th century by scientists such as Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace. It is about the way that there is a natural variation in all living things from one generation to the next, and that over time, this can lead to any one living thing changing considerably, and even changing into a new kind of living thing - called a new species.
