Electroplating

What is electroplating? Electroplating is the coating of metal applied by using an electric current.

Electroplated pieces of steel.
Electroplating using a piece of copper, a key, some copper sulphate solution and a battery. The key becomes electroplated with copper.

Electroplating is all about applying a very thin layer of one metal onto the surface of something else, usually another metal. It is done by putting the object into a bath of the metal which is in a solution. An electric current is then passed through the bath and the object being electroplated.
