Dry valley

What is a dry valley? A dry valley is a valley found in chalk and limestone areas which does not usually contain a stream.

Sometimes dry valleys do contain rivers. This happens when the water in rocks (chalk or limestone) below them fills up, usually during long wet spells in winter, and the water rises to the surface.
