Dawn

What is dawn? Dawn is a time when the sky becomes light but before the disc of the Sun can be seen.

Dawn is the time when the Sun is just below the horizon. You can see a whole range of colours in the sky if there is no cloud. The colours are made by the way that the rays of sunlight are absorbed by the air. So you get reds near the horizon, then pinks, then white, then blue. Dawn is also the time when you can hear the dawn chorus (video below).
