Climate

What is climate? Climate is the pattern of weather at a place. Climate is what happens on average, not what happens day to day.

Climate is a word for the way the weather behaves at a place on average over many years. For example, people say a place has a Tropical climate because, on average, it has hot summers and warm winters. They say it has an Equatorial climate if the temperature of every month of the year is more or less the same.

When a weather forecaster says it will be UNUSUALLY hot, cold, wet or dry, they are saying how the next few days will vary quite a lot from the long term average (the climate).
