Chiton (Ancient Greek clothing)

What was a chiton? A chiton was a tunic worn by women in ancient times and held in place by a clasp over the shoulder and a rope around the waist.

Ancient civilisations such as the Ancient Greeks and the Ancient Romans lived in areas which were very hot in summer. What they needed was loose-fitting clothing. This is why the basic garment was a tunic.
