Bilberry

What is a bilberry? A bilberry is a low-growing shrub that produces blue berries.

Ripe bilberries.

Bilberries grow in Europe on very acid moor and heathland soils. Their blue berries are somewhat sharp to eat.

They are not the same as the American blueberry, and bilberries are not made into blueberry jam.
